Athletics to participate in the meeting of champions

ELON, North Carolina – The Elon University women’s track and field team travels to High Point University to compete in the Meet of Champions this Saturday, April 16. The match should start at 10 a.m. at the Green stadium.


• Meetup updates will be posted on the team’s social media pages on Twitter and Instagram at the handle, @ElonXCTF.
• Live results will be provided and can be found on the program schedule page on along with a recap and results at the end of the competition.
• The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ from 2 p.m.

• This weekend’s matchup will include conference champions CUSA (Charlotte), MEAC (NC A&T), ACC (Duke), ASUN (Liberty), CAA (Elon) and Big South (High Point).
• Championship score (for 5 or more teams) > 10-8-6-4-2-1; Relay > 10-8-6-4-2-1.


• Elon is expected to field 34 athletes on Saturday. Below is a list of events Phoenix athletes must attend:

• Elon took part in the Duke Invitational last weekend, April 8-9, at the Morris Williams Track facility.
• On the Phoenix’s first day of competition last Friday, Elon set seven personal bests, including five new performances on the program’s top 10 list.
• Miller clocked the second-fastest time in school history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Harrisonburg, Va. native clocked a personal best 10:26.00 in the race and finished fifth overall.
• In the 1,500 meter Invite race, Leandra Lorenz and Anna Twomey the two set new personal bests as the pair ran times of 4:22.60 and 4:22.98, respectively. Lorenz finished sixth overall in the race while Twomey finished seventh.
Maria Oh made his outdoor debut in the 5,000 meters and clocked a new personal best of 16:30.34 in the race and finished sixth. Lizzie Vinci also achieved a personal best with his time of 17:18.11 in 18th.
• On day two last Saturday, Lair clocked a new personal best of 2:09.56 in the 800 meters while Twomey also set a new personal best with his time of 2:11.09.
• Sandy finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.75 seconds. Jons finished 10th in the 400 meters to lead Elon with his time of 54.78. Barrows set a new personal best in the race with his time of 56.64.


• Miller was named Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday April 12 for her performance at the Duke Invitational.
• The Harrisonburg, Va. native had the fastest 3,000-metre steeplechase time on the CAA performance list so far this year by over 25 seconds. His time also ranks 26and overall in the NCAA East Region and is 41st overall in the country goes.
• Miller was honored as CAA Track Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row after Jons was recognized last Tuesday.


Select members of the Phoenix will be heading to the Virginia Challenge next weekend, April 22-23.
