The Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., will be hosting an outdoor scavenger hunt and activity hunt to celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday all day on July 31. Families are invited to work together within their allotted time slot. Prior registration is compulsory. Visit [email protected] or call 610-965-9284, ext. 210.

The Emmaus public library has new opening hours as of June 1st. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The library will be closed on July 5 for the holidays.

The library offers many fun programs for adults, adolescents and young people in July. Adult bingo continues until August 31st.

Throughout the month, the library celebrates writing and encourages patrons to attend Camp NaNO, the July writing event. Set a goal and write, write, write. For kids, teens and adults write anytime, anywhere.

Local artist Abraham Darlington will present a workshop on expressive acrylic painting at 11 a.m. on July 24. Bring an old shirt or apron to keep your clothes clean and bug spray. The workshop will take place outside in the backyard of the library. The workshop is limited to 15 participants, aged 16 and over. The on-the-go DIY kit for kids consists of animal puppets. Pick up the kit at the street table or at the loan office as of July 1, while supplies last.

Miss Sue will tell stories on the lawn at 10:30 am On July 7, local sculptor Laura Elmore will guide elementary school children through an art experience on the library’s back lawn at 2:00 pm on July 10. Registration is compulsory.

Magician Macie Bazella, Miss Pennsylvania Junior High School America, will present a magical story hour for readers of all ages at 6 p.m. on July 12.

Staff at the Lehigh Valley Zoo will be traveling at 2:00 pm on July 17 for “Chill with a Penguin,” a fun hour of an interactive learning program with a penguin. Registration is compulsory.

There will be a bike safety event at 11 a.m. on July 22. Bring your bike to try out the Library Bike Safety Course in the library parking lot. Highway Safety Network Safety Coordinator Tracy Fox will have safety and health information for the summer.

Books ‘n’ Barks is back. Read to Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs 6:30 p.m. July 29 on the library lawn. No registration is required. Bring your own books or pick one from the library. In case of bad weather, this event will be canceled.

The library is once again coordinating the Plant a Row product collections this year. This is an opportunity to share the bounty of your garden with local pantries by dropping off additional produce at the library for Plant A Row LV. The first pickup was on June 21. The library collected over 240 product books last year. Place your washed items in the cooler near the main entrance after 7 p.m. Sunday evening or before 10 a.m. Monday. Pickup takes place every Monday morning.

The Emmaus Garden Club will meet at noon on July 6 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002. N. Second St., Emmaus. The program will be “Rooftop Garden with Louise Clarke”. Clarke has many interests but calls herself a “plant geek”. A horticulturalist at Bloomfield Farm, Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania, Clarke designed rooftop gardens supporting over 50 types of plants. Come and discover the many environmental benefits of rooftop gardens. Clarke was associated with Longwood Gardens and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design and Horticulture from Temple University. Guests are always welcome. The Emmaus district council will meet on July 19 at 7 p.m. Borough offices, 28 S. Fourth St., will be closed July 5 for the July 4 holiday.

The Emmaüs Community Park swimming pool is open from noon to 8 p.m. every day in July. Aqua Zumba is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays in July. In inclement weather, Aqua Zumba will take place on Friday. There is free Zumba offered at 8:45 am every Saturday at the Arts Pavilion in the park. New is the cardio percussion program from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Mondays at the Pavillon des arts. The program is open to all ages. Participants must bring their own supplies. Concerts in the park take place every Sunday, rain or shine, at the Pavillon des Arts. The following musical groups will be performing in July: DMC DUO will be performing on July 4. No concert is scheduled for July 11. James Supra / Sarah Ayers Band on July 18 and The Large Flowerheads on July 25.

The Pocono Duo will be entertaining from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 9 as part of the Borough’s Tunes in the Triangle at Triangle Park and Woodside Ave. will entertain on July 23.

The Emmaus Triangle Farmer’s Market on the main street in Emmaus takes place every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come visit the people at the community booth, listen to the musical entertainment and discover more than 25 vendors. The Emmaüs Historical Society thanks all those who made a donation and / or made purchases during its garage sale on June 5. The weather was wonderful which made for a fun community experience. The sale was a huge success – breaking all previous records. The proceeds benefit the general operating fund of the company. Come and listen to the music of the Quarantettes on the porch of the Emmaus Historical Society, 218 Main Street at noon on June 27. Don’t hesitate to bring a chair to listen to this 30-minute show.

The Emmaüs Historical and Museum Society is delighted to announce its reopening date on the weekend of August 14 and 15. It will celebrate Lehigh Valley History Passport Month 2021 in conjunction with many other historic organizations across the Lehigh Valley during the month of August. Stay tuned for more information on the new displays and events that make up this fun weekend.

Plan and reserve your seat in advance for the bus ride to the American Music Theater in Lancaster for the 2021 Christmas show, “Winter Wonderland”. The show is scheduled for November 18. Cost includes lunch at Bird in Hand before the 3 p.m. show. The deadline to reserve a seat is October 7.

The 159 foot community art project is coordinated by the Emmaus Arts Commission. The design is already traced and features local barn stars from the Lehigh Valley.
