It’s not a simple answer. I’m the CEO of a tech company, called ParkShare, I run a local charity called The Turn Around Project, and of course I sit on the Western Cape Government’s Cultural Committee and sing as Charlie Void.
What does music represent for you?
Music was the first thing I could emotionally lean on for support. I have found purpose in creation and it remains the ultimate form of self-expression. Even if you’re not a creator, you can find personal meaning in music you’ve never written.
My music is about…
I grew up in the early 2000s and I grew up with the hits of the 80s. I think the music industry doesn’t have that glam-pop, synth sound that it used to have.
Where are the unforgettable corny melodies? That’s what I try to do with my music. I try to do simple dance hits.
What is your motto?
Value your time in the world. Money is replaceable, but time is up.
Takes many different forms, but I can tell you what it means to me personally. Fame is the recognition of your work. It’s the industry marker for “I must have done something right!”
