ODOT Region 4 Build Update: Week of January 10-14

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Here is the ODOT Region 4 build update for the week of January 10-14.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation system. ODOT invests in the future of Oregon through road improvement projects. The following projects are located in ODOT Region 4 encompassing central Oregon from The Dalles to Klamath Falls on the east side of the Cascades.

All work is weather dependent and times are subject to change.

Deschutes County

US 20: Ward / Hamby Rd. Intersection Project (MP3.26-MP3.86)

ODOT will construct a single lane roundabout at the intersection of US 20 and Ward / Hamby.

The contractor will work on the shoulder this week. No impact on traffic.

Construction of the Ward / Hamby roundabout on US 20 east of Bend is now underway, although earthworks will likely begin in the spring.

US 97: road weather management project (MP143.68 – MP164.17).

ODOT will install Road and Weather Information System (RWIS) speed sensors, travel time readers and changeable message signs.

The contractor will work on the shoulder this week. No impact on traffic.

US 97: S Century Drive at the USFS border (MP 153.11-MP 156.26)

The contractor will work on the southbound alignment of US97 by installing the new southbound wildlife underpass. The contractor installed a detour lane change to direct traffic around the excavation of the structure. Traffic should exercise caution when moving into workplaces and changing traffic patterns. No traffic delay is expected. The contractor will not be doing any work on the site this week.

US97: Place Nels Anderson – Chemin du village de la Romaine (MP134.84 – MP141.12)Construct new ADA ramps along the promenade, repaving all traffic lanes and driveway entry / exit ramps, and redesign the roadway after paving is complete. The contractor will not be doing any work on the site this week.

US 97 Redmond-Bend (MP124.4-MP133.51)ODOT will build the following as part of the project: deceleration lanes on Quarry Avenue and 61st Street from US 97 southbound, an acceleration lane from 61st Street to US 97 in southerly direction to provide greater merge distance, installation of a median barrier south of the Tumalo interchange, and a turn from US 97 southbound to the north, install reflective pavement markers added for better lane separation and removing the removal of rock outcrops near the edge of the roadway for better visibility.

The contractor will work on the shoulder this week. No impact on traffic.

US 20: Mervin Samples – Greenwood (3e Street curve, MP18.99 – MP20.99)ODOT will build the following: a new roadway within the project boundaries, updating sidewalks, cycle paths and ADA ramps. Update signs, storm and drainage systems, lighting and ITS equipment. Update bus stop locations, install new signs, update crosswalks, and install fast flashing beacon level crossings. The contractor will excavate material for the new drainage features between the hard barrier from Mervin Sampels to River Mall Road. The hard barrier will close the fast lane in the north / south direction, including the middle turn lanes. The lane closure will be in place on 3rd Street (commercial route US20 / US97) until March 1. The contractor will work inside the barrier installing new drainage features. In addition, the contractor will perform intermittent single lane closures throughout the 3rd Street corridor to facilitate construction activities. No traffic delay is to be expected.

Harney / Lake Counties

US395: Big Stick – Alkali Lake, Lakeview, Lakeview-Burns Highway (MP 15.43-MP 46.93. Project is closed for the winter. Construction will resume in the spring.

Jefferson County
and CTWS reservation

US 26: Warm Springs Safety Corridor, (MP 103.02-MP111.16) .

The contractor will clean the checklist throughout the project, no impact on traffic is expected. The contractor will not be doing any work on the site this week.

Klamath County

OR140 Brett Way Extension (South Klamath Falls Highway, MP3.74-4.75) Traffic modification. The roundabout is open. The project is closed for the winter. Work will resume in the spring.

Wasco County (OR) / Klickitat (WA)

The Dalles (Columbia River) Bridge Project (US -197: WA MP 0.57 I-84: MP100.6-US 197: OR MP 0.61 I-84: MP 102.2.)Construction of the bridge is underway, requiring a complete closure of the Dalles (Columbia River) Bridge between Washington and Oregon from 8 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Monday. Use an alternative route. The established and signed detour route is via I-84, US97 to Biggs Jct. and SR14 to the east. Full bridge closures will take place every weekend until May 23. Crews will continue to replace the bridge deck and form new concrete panels at their precast site.

Wheeler County

US26: Bridge Creek Bridge Project (US 26 / Ochoco Highway, mile marker 64.91-65.19)

No construction work this week, but corrective work is expected to take place over the next few weeks.
