Two Florida cities, Orlando and Sarasota, among Time magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Places in the World
Two Florida cities were included in a global list of top destinations by one of the world’s best-known magazines.
Time magazine unveiled its The 100 most beautiful places in the world in 2021 list, comprising both Orlando and Sarasota.
The Orlando article focused on the city’s abundance of theme parks, including “the crown jewel of American theme parks” Walt Disney World and the 18-month celebration of its 50th anniversary which should start in October.

“Thrills abound in nearby parks too, with a new Jurassic World-themed VelociCoaster featuring a 140-footer. weightless drop and stall – in which the track spins 360 degrees above the surface of a lagoon – at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, ”the blurb read. Other attractions, including SeaWorld Orlando’s tundra-themed icebreaker and a drop tower at ICON Park – the world’s tallest, at 430 feet – are slated to open by the end of the year. . “
Meanwhile, Sarasota’s blurb focused on new and renovated attractions, such as the newly opened Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College. He also mentioned Sarasota’s The Bay project, including the recently opened Mangrove walkway, as well as renovations to the Lido Beach Pavilion and the Resort at Longboat Key Club, “both top spots to watch the sun set over the sparkling waters of the Gulf.”

“Miami has long held the reins of everything young and hip in Florida,” the description reads. “But there is something special seeping along the once sleepy Gulf Coast these days. Celebrating its centennial this year, Sarasota is proving itself a vital cultural capital.
First published in 1923, Time magazine noted in a press release that its third annual article on the world’s greatest places is “made up of nominations from editors and experts from around the world” and that ” the list recognizes 100 unique destinations that offer visitors an extraordinary experience like no other. “
The list is described as “a tribute to people and companies at the forefront of industries who, under extraordinary circumstances, have found ways to adapt, build and innovate. It highlights the ingenuity, creativity, revitalization and reopening of destinations around the world, from small towns to big cities, and everything in between.
The double number will go on sale on Friday.
The inclusion of the two Florida cities on the list adds to the growing national and international recognition of destinations statewide, both as places to visit and to experience. US News & World Report recently included two Florida metropolitan areas in the Top 10 of its 150 Best Places to Live in the United States list, with Napoli in 7th place and Sarasota in 9th.

Virginia Haley, president of Visit Sarasota County, noted that this recognition helps market the area to tourists.
